Letter from The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada to Dr Taraska

Dr Taraska works continuously and  altruistically to improve the community around her, and for the education of future physicians.

She has volunteered many years at The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, both as an examiner for new dermatologists and as a program reviewer of Dermatology residency programs.

This is just one of the many ways Dr Taraska loves to give back to the community.

She is passionate for and cares about forwarding Canadian Dermatology, so that patients can receive the best care possible.

We encourage you to volunteer for your passion! Just remember, small changes can make a big difference.

Dear Dr. Taraska,

It’s National Volunteer Week and I want to take a moment to thank you.

I wish I had the time to call you personally to express my gratitude for all that you do for the Royal College through your volunteerism. But, with more than 3,000 volunteers, even a one-minute phone call each would fill more than 50 consecutive hours (and I’d never be able to keep to one-minute!)

Like the quote above, you “do more than you have to” every time you contribute to a volunteer commitment. Whether you give an extra four hours a year or four weeks, it is known and appreciated. You’re part of a network that makes the Royal College what it is today. I hope you know how profoundly grateful we are for your time and expertise. Your efforts are making a difference in the lives of specialists, patients and the Canadian and global health care systems.

On behalf of our Royal College leadership team, staff, the medical education community and all others who benefit from your efforts, I would like to extend a heartfelt thank you.

It’s precisely because you “do more than you have to” that we are able to fulfil our mission and together navigate the way forward.

With gratitude and deep appreciation,

Andrew Padmos, MD, FRCPC, FACP
