Feeling like the walking dead? Well you’re likely looking like you could play the part — extreme freezing temperatures have done your skin in, sucking up all the moisture and shrivelling it up!
Winter-parched skin can’t catch a break — it’s been unusually cold and things aren’t going to really warm up for awhile. But there’s still time to stop the damage and go with some glow.
While music maven Annie Lennox recently reported being happy with a few lines creeping in here and there and never being tempted to try Botox — “I’m 64, and I’ve got a few wrinkles. So what? I’ve earned a few lines!” — truthfully, most of us want to diminish the damage. Not really add to it.
According to Olay skincare scientist Dr. Frauke Neuser, “our findings showed that fine lines and wrinkles worsened during the winter months when participants used the same moisturizer year-round. So, skin may never fully recover from winter’s effects if you don’t change the way you care for your skin during the colder months.”
You’ve got to moisturize thirsty skin. Canadians should consider a facial moisturizer with vitamin B3 and SPF, says Neuser.
